Zoom has grown in popularity over the past few years as the demand for video calling has increased due to hybrid and remote work situations. While most people usually use Zoom on a laptop or desktop computer, you can also launch Zoom on an Android phone or tablet.

When you open the app for the first time, you'll see all of Zoom's key features displayed at the top of the screen. You can do almost anything in the Zoom Android app that you can do in a web browser or desktop app, such as join someone else's meeting, create or schedule your own. friends and use Zoom Chat to communicate with people in a non-video format.
Sorry, the only feature not yet supported on Android is the use of a fun Zoom avatar in a meeting.
With the app downloaded, you won't have to dial into the meeting with your phone number. Instead, you'll be able to use your smartphone's amazing camera and see everyone you're talking to.
Additionally, once the app is installed on your phone, any Zoom meetings you accept or schedule will show up on your Android phone as well as any other devices where you're signed in to Zoom.
Getting to Know Zoom Settings on Android
When you download the Zoom Android app for the first time and sign in or set up your account, you'll want to take a close look at the settings. There's a lot here that you might want to customize, and it's better to do it right away than to rush to change some settings right before an important meeting.
To access the Zoom app settings, tap the three horizontal dots in the bottom navigation bar; this button shows More. Once on this tab, you'll see four sections of settings that you can customize: Meetings, Contacts, Chats, and General.
In the Contacts section, you can enable the Zoom application to match contacts from your phone's address book. This is useful if you have a lot of friends and family members that you want to communicate with regularly, so you don't have to enter all of their information individually. Here, you'll also see any new requests you receive from people who want to add you as a contact.
In the General section, there is not much to do. You can customize the ringtone volume and volume for everyone and add a custom ringtone for each contact.
Most of Zoom's settings are in the Meetings and Chats section.
Any settings you saved in the Meeting section will apply to any Zoom calls you participate in in the future. You can set your audio and video quality preferences, such as mute the microphone when joining, enable a picture-in-picture view, keep a virtual background for all specific meetings or meetings, and more.
You can then turn other settings on and off, such as showing names when participants join, asking for confirmation when you select Leave meeting, or always showing meeting controls.
Although most people use Zoom's video calling feature, it's handy to customize your chat settings just in case. You can choose why you get push notifications, how you want to sort unread messages, turn off chat while you're in a meeting, and more.
How to create a new Zoom meeting on Android
At the top of the screen, you'll see an orange icon labeled New Meeting; you will select this button if you need to create a meeting at the last minute. Then other people with your personal meeting ID (or people who already have you as a saved contact) will be able to join.
If you know you'll need to talk to a friend or colleague in person later, you can select the Schedule button to schedule a meeting for a later date. You can invite anyone you want to join via email or through your Zoom contacts.
Or, you can also provide a unique meeting ID for anyone you want to be able to join and they just need to enter that ID when joining.
Select the Meetings tab at the bottom of the home screen to see all the meetings you currently have on your calendar. This includes any meetings you have scheduled or that you have been invited to and accepted.
How to join a Zoom meeting is available
If someone sends you an invitation to join a Zoom meeting, you'll usually receive an email. Normally, you can click a link in your email on your Android phone and it will automatically open in the Zoom app.
However, if that doesn't work for you, there is another way to join the meeting. You'll need the meeting ID number from the email invitation or the meeting organizer. On the welcome screen, select the Join button at the top and enter the meeting ID number, how you want your name to appear in the meeting, and confirm the audio and video settings before joining.
How to end a Zoom meeting on Android
Ending a Zoom meeting is quite simple whether you are the organizer or a member of someone else's meeting. If you're the meeting organizer, you'll see two options when you tap the End meeting button in the lower right corner: End meeting for all or Leave meeting.
The first option kicks all participants out of the meeting, while the second option allows others to stay even if you leave.
If you're not the organizer, but a member invited to someone else's Zoom meeting, you'll only see a second option that says Leave the meeting. Because you're not the organizer, you don't have end-of-meeting permissions for everyone.
Zoom on Android is free?
Zoom is completely free to use on your Android phone, although there are some limitations to the basic free plan offered by Zoom. However, for most people, the Basic plan has everything you need and will work well for friends, family, and small groups of co-workers.
With the free basic plan, you can host up to 100 participants at a time, join group and private chats, hold as many meetings as you want with a 40-minute time limit and use up to three Editable Zoom whiteboards with 25MB of cloud storage.
