How to get weather alerts on android
In the event of bad weather, severe weather alerts from your iPhone®, Android™ or smart speaker, like Amazon Echo®, are some of the best ways to stay informed.
With the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system launched in 2012, people with compatible devices can receive text messages alerting them to possible weather warnings for their area. Surname.

How to set up severe weather alerts on your iPhone
When a storm is coming, the Weather app on iPhone® can keep you safe and up to date in real time. Here's how to set it up:
Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Location services > Weather, then tap Always.
Enable precise location to receive the most accurate updates.
Open Weather, then press the Menu button.
Tap the Multitasking button, then tap Notifications. If prompted, allow notifications from the Weather app.
Under YOUR LOCATION, tap a location, then turn on notifications for severe weather and rainfall for the next hour. Then tap Done.
How to enable (and disable) severe weather alerts with Amazon Alexa
You can now receive severe weather alerts from your smart speaker using Amazon's voice assistant, Alexa™. To enable these alerts, simply say "Alexa, let me know when there's a severe weather warning," and Alexa will let you know when severe weather warnings are available in your area. Download the best extreme weather apps to stay up to date
There are hundreds of weather apps available that offer everything from snow reports, UV index, and live radar. Most of the apps are free and offer push notifications in weather clocks and alerts. Many local TV stations also offer apps to broadcast severe weather news. We recommend that you download a few and find the one that best suits your needs. Here are a few ways to get started:
Accuweather: The Accuweather® app uses community services to keep you up to date by allowing users to share nearby weather conditions. It also provides a minute-by-minute rain forecast for the next two hours based on your current location. Available for iOS and Android.
Weather Channel: The Weather Channel® application is useful in extreme weather situations and for daily forecasting. There is also social sharing that allows users to share photos of nearby weather. Available for iOS and Android.
RainAware: RainAware is a free weather app that keeps you informed about the possibility of rain during the day. It provides minute-by-minute forecast updates and shows the chance of rain and potential intensity for up to another 12 hours so you have plenty of time to plan ahead. Available for iOS.
Maximizing your phone's battery life
One of the most important things to do is make sure you have enough battery power to stay connected. This will be especially helpful if bad weather causes power outages. Activate the battery saver option for your phone. This is probably the fastest way to slow down a rapidly discharging battery.
Dim your screen. Lowering the screen's brightness even a little can save a lot of energy.
Adjust your social app settings. Social apps tend to drain your battery. Once you've marked yourself as "safe", adjust your social app's background refresh and push notification settings. Start with these tips to prevent Facebook® from draining your phone's battery, as that's often the biggest culprit.
Change your push notification settings. Push notifications can help you stay connected, but getting too many unnecessary apps can drain your battery. Go to Settings > Notifications and only allow notifications from the apps that are most important to you (such as severe weather alerts).
Reduce location services for all your phone apps. Check location services in your device settings to find out which apps are allowed to access your location. Disable the unimportant ones.
Buy a portable power bank. It's always a good idea to have extra batteries, just in case. Many external power banks have enough power to charge your phone over and over again. Just remember to recharge your batteries before the storm hits. If you're looking for a power source that can charge two phones two to three times and last for a few days, you'll need a power bank with a capacity of 22,000 mAh (milliampere hour) or more.
