Facebook App Crashing on Android

9 Tips to Fix Facebook App Crashing on Android

There was a time when almost everyone was on Facebook. Today, most young people are switching to Instagram . However, many people still use Facebook (FB) on their devices.

Unfortunately, the Facebook app, like other apps, is not without bugs and glitches at times. If you're facing an issue that keeps the Facebook app crashing on your Android device, you've come to the right place.

Here I will share 9 solutions to fix Facebook app. Let's start.

1. Restart your phone.

If you ask a technical expert to troubleshoot your device, the first solution they usually give is to restart your phone. Why? Because most of the time it works. Restarting your phone, tablet, or even PC is known to solve many problems.

2. Exit the application.

Then try logging out of the Facebook app. Sometimes, your account session issue prevails and logging out can fix it.

Here are the steps:

Paso 1: Open the Facebook app and click the three-bar icon in the upper right corner.

Paso 2: Tap Exit.

Step 3 : After logging out, log in again.

3. Clear cache

Similar to restarting the device, clearing the cache has also become a big rescue for many users. Without erasing any important data, clearing the cache solves problems by deleting temporary files.

To clear your Facebook app cache, follow these steps:

Step 1 : Open device settings on your phone and tap Apps & notifications or Application manager, depending on the option presented on your device.

4. Clear data

If clearing the cache does not solve the problem, then you should go ahead and clear the data from the Facebook app. Clearing data is different from clearing cache in that it takes you out of the app and removes app preferences as well as media downloaded from Facebook.

If you've downloaded images from Facebook, use your file browser or gallery to move them from your Facebook folder to any other folder. This is why deleting data helps, as it deletes everything in the Facebook folder.

To clear data from the Facebook app, repeat steps 1-3 to clear the cache. Then click on "Storage" and instead of choosing "Clear cache" click on "Clear storage / Clear data".

5. Update the application.

Sometimes the problem can be caused by a bug in the Facebook app. Go to the Google Play store and in the My Apps section look for an update for the Facebook app. If an update is available, install it immediately. After installation, restart your device.

6. Reinstall the application.

Another solution you can try is to uninstall the Facebook app and reinstall it on your device. To uninstall the app, go to the Play Store and search for Facebook. Then click the "Delete" button.

Alternatively, go to Apps & Notifications or Application Manager in Settings. Click on Facebook and click the "Delete" button. Then reinstall it by downloading from the Play Store.

7. Install the old version of Facebook.

If neither updating nor uninstalling the app fixes the problem, try downgrading to an earlier version of the app.

Here's how to do it.

Paso 1: First uninstall the Facebook app as shown above.

Paso 2: Go to ApkMirror.com and visit the Facebook app page . From there, you can download the APK of the previous version of Facebook.

Paso 3: Since you did not download the APK file from the Google Play store, you need to enable the Unknown Sources option to install APK files on devices running Android 7.0 Nougat and earlier. To do this, go to Settings on your device and click on Security / Privacy. Then enable Unknown sources and go to step 4.

For devices running Android 8.0 Oreo and above, follow the next step.

Step 4: Tap the downloaded file to install the APK file. You will be prompted to go to settings when you tap the APK file on Android 8.0 Oreo and above. In the settings, turn on the toggle next to Allow from this source. This will allow the APK files to be installed safely.

8. Disable power saving mode.

Sometimes, Power Saving Mode or Battery Optimizer Mode can also cause the Facebook app to crash. To check if you are responsible, you need to turn off the power saving mode.

To do this, go to Settings on your device and tap Battery. Turn off battery saver here. You can also turn off battery saving mode in quick settings on the notification panel.

Still not working?

If even after trying all the above solutions, the Facebook app still crashes, I suggest you wait for the next update.

In the meantime, you can use Facebook from the website on your device, or try the Facebook Lite app if available in your country. You can download Facebook Lite, if available in your country, by clicking the button below.

It is a great data-friendly alternative to the Facebook app. The app is very lightweight and doesn't consume much memory. The problem with the main Facebook app can be a blessing in disguise for you to switch to the Lite app.
